Bio

Abigail L. Jaquette (“Abby”) was born and raised in Carson City, Nevada. Following high school, she began her college education at Oregon State University, during which she completed a fully immersive study abroad program in Lyon, France. She returned home to complete her college studies at the University of Nevada, Reno, where she received a dual degree in International Business and French, and minors in Economics and Marketing. She spent the next four years in business management before obtaining her Juris Doctorate, cum laude, from the Gonzaga University School of Law in 2010, an accomplishment inspired by her father’s dedication to his clients and to his family. Prior to joining Surratt Law Practice, Abby served as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable James E. Wilson, Jr., at the First Judicial District Court, gained valuable litigation and advocacy experience in private family law practice and served five years as a Deputy District Attorney for the Washoe County District Attorney’s Office where she prosecuted cases in both the juvenile dependency and criminal divisions.

Abby now assists clients in all legal facets of third-party assisted reproduction, including the drafting and negotiation of surrogacy agreements, egg, sperm, and embryo donation agreements, and parentage matters. She provides legal services in adoption matters, including close-family adoptions, identified adoptions, child welfare agency adoptions, confirmatory adoptions and adult adoptions. She also provides comprehensive estate planning services, helping clients protect their assets, secure their families’ futures, and designate trusted advocates through revocable living trusts, wills, and powers of attorney.

Abby maintains active involvement in the legal community through her service as a board member of the Family Law Executive Council for the Family Law Section of the State Bar, formerly serving as treasurer from 2022-2024 and as secretary from 2024-2025. She is also a member of the Washoe County Bar Association, the Nevada Justice Association, the State Bar’s Probate and Trust Section, and the Society for Ethics in Egg Donation and Surrogacy (SEEDS).

Whether helping clients navigate the path to parenthood, embark on their journey as a surrogate, or carefully construct their plan to ensure their legacy is protected for their loved ones, she approaches each case with compassion and diligence. As a mother of two, Abby considers her children the driving force behind everything she does. They fuel her passionate belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to create their own families and plan thoughtfully for their children’s futures.
